The play revolves around the story of four residents of a downtrodden Haveli of "Jangiram" who died leaving the residents helpless. The "Haveli" is symbolic to the country and the residents represent the citizens of the country. The residents being overly dependent on "Jangiram" did not know how to survive without him. The residents troubled by this situation sought the help of the narrator and it helped them to awaken them and work for themselves. It prompted them to hold the elections to choose their new representative. The new representative was the same as the old one and did nothing to improve the conditions. The place they live in is in so poor condition that they are still on the same boat as they were before. The play culminates when the narrator succeeds in making the people understand that any how they have to live for themselves under no pressures and democracy is their birth right and they must understand the value of it.
