BJP Kashmir Displaced District led by its District President Chand Jee Bhat today called upon BJP State General Secretary (Org.)Ashok Kaul at Party Headquarter, Trikuta Nagar Jammu. BJP State General Secretary Yudhvir Sethi and MLC Ajay Bharti were other senior leaders present in the meeting.
The agenda of the meeting was approaching parliamentary, Municipal Corporation and Panchayati election in the State of Jammu & Kashmir, particularly pertaining to displaced people living outside valley in different parts of the country. In Parliamentary and Panchayati elections, nearly one lakh migrant voters have to cast their votes in different constituencies of Kashmir.
Leaders from the Kashmir Displaced District urged that names of fresh voters may be included in the electoral rolls of Kashmir and urged the election commission to issue photo election voter cards to migrants at Jammu. It was decided that a deputation of BJP will meet the higher authorities for waiving of “M-form” to Kashmir migrants for voting.
The leaders said that Municipal elections are concerned, Kashmiri migrants are living outside Kashmir from the last 30 years and they must be included in the municipal voter list at the place of their present residence at Jammu as it is their right for development of the areas. Regarding Panchayati election, it urged that Govt must declare our Migrant Camps of Jagti Nagrota, Muthi, Purkhu as panchayat and hold election there.
Ashok Kaul, while patiently listening to the demands and concerns of the Kashmiri leaders, assured that their issues will be addressed promptly by the party. He said that the Kashmiri community is the part and parcel of the state and their role in the coming elections is paramount for the development of the state. He said that migrants should gear up for forth coming elections as their vote as well as active participation is indispensable for the party.
T N Bhat, Ravinder Raina, Makhan Lal Bhat, C L Pandita, Veena Gurtoo Raja Jee Tickoo, Bharat Bushan Bhat, Suneel Bhat, Suban Pandita, Bushan Lal Vijay Raina were also present in the meeting.
